The Paula Hedbavny School - IS 502
Building Resilient Learning Environments
New school construction project where Kanta is delivering a fully integrated, high-capacity electrical and low-voltage infrastructure. The scope includes a Solar PV system, new Con Edison utility service, a 3000A electrical service, and a 300 kW emergency generator, along with complete power distribution, lighting, and advanced life-safety and communications systems. The project reflects Kanta’s best-in-class execution of complex educational facilities with a focus on resiliency, safety, and long-term performance.
Kanta is serving as the electrical subcontractor for the construction of IS 502M, a new ground-up, multi-story educational facility developed under the New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA). This project represents a large-scale public infrastructure build designed to support modern learning environments with a strong emphasis on resiliency, energy efficiency, and long-term operational reliability.
Kanta Electric’s scope includes the complete delivery of a fully integrated electrical and low-voltage infrastructure system, encompassing new Con Edison utility service, a 3000A main electrical service, and a 300 kW emergency generator to ensure continuity of operations. The project also incorporates a Solar PV system, reinforcing sustainability objectives and reducing long-term energy demand.
The scope further includes comprehensive power distribution, energy-efficient lighting systems, advanced life-safety systems, and a fully coordinated communications backbone to support data, security, and building-wide connectivity. All systems are being executed in strict accordance with NYCSCA standards, requiring detailed coordination, phased construction sequencing, and adherence to rigorous public-sector compliance and inspection protocols.
This project highlights Kanta’s expertise in delivering complex, high-capacity electrical infrastructure for K-12 educational facilities, with a focus on performance, reliability, and future-ready systems.
